SA Prepper – When there are people calling to arms it is a time to call to calm.

We are concerned to see that on both sides of the racial divide there are individuals and groups calling for confrontation and war. Most of those calling for war have never seen war – they don’t know what they are talking about – they are a reflection of their own naivety and are products of movie and computer game brainwashing. War is not glamorous. There are no winners in war. Only broken hearts, broken limbs, broken spirits and broken lives. So think again before you incite people – irrespective of colour or belief – to war and violence.

Whilst the smallest opportunity remains for peace in our country between all people through dialogue, negotiation and non-violent means let us pursue that route rather than physical confrontation.

SA Prepper has never and will never incite or promote violence and war between the peoples of this country. We desire as much as anyone to see South Africans living together in prosperity, peace and harmony. Each family having a home to call their own, a good education and a steady job with decent wages. We would like to see everyone having access to good medical care and to be able to enjoy living in safety. These are legitimate aspirations for everyone. However we do not hesitate to say that a realistic and ongoing appraisal of the situation in this country is not only wise but imperative and it is necessary to prepare for eventualities. There are grave dangers that lie ahead. Whilst we hope for, promote and yearn for peace and wish well for all South Africans there may come a time when all peaceful options will have been exhausted. Pray every day that that day never comes and that we will have found reasonable, amicable and peaceful means whereby all South Africans are fairly treated and accommodated. We understand too that one of the challenges facing this country are the unrealistic expectations of the majority of people which are unlikely to be met and it is these unrealistic expectations which could be what will eventually lead to a tipping point, the results and consequences of which is the reason to be prepared.

It is time to take the moral high ground. Treat all people irrespective of race, creed or religious persuasion as you would wish to be treated yourself. Try and bridge divides instead of creating chasms. Be reasonable and always try and put yourself in the other man’s shoes. This does not make you a weakling – it makes you stronger and a better human being. But at the same time be prepared. Remember that if the lives of you or loved ones are ever threatened you have every moral and legal right and responsibility to protect yourselves with whatever means you have at your disposal. For that you have to make no excuse or apology. SA Prepper will always support the moral imperative of self defence.

If you are open to sound advice heed the following: Get off of social media – Twitter, Facebook etc. – unless you can offer something which can help to promote better relations between South Africans. If you use this platform to vent hatred, incite violence or to denigrate or insult other people you will get yourself into a lot of trouble and it is not worth it. Keep your thought and opinions to yourself it is much wiser. And be prepared – physically, spiritually and on your knees – that is the best advice we can offer.

The words of the poet Rudyard Kipling are appropriate for the times we are living in. “Hou kop”.

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

– Rudyard Kipling
